Tyto zdroje se vyu\u017e\u00edvaj\u00ed pro stanovov\u00e1n\u00ed v\u00fdbuchov\u00fdch charakteristik (maxim\u00e1ln\u00ed v\u00fdbuchov\u00fd tlak, n\u00e1r\u016fst rychlosti v\u00fdbuchov\u00e9ho tlaku, doln\u00ed a horn\u00ed meze v\u00fdbu\u0161nosti, limitn\u00ed obsah kysl\u00edku nebo minim\u00e1ln\u00ed inicia\u010dn\u00ed energie) u sm\u011bs\u00ed plyn\u016f a par s oxida\u010dn\u00edm prost\u0159edkem (vzduch, kysl\u00edk a dal\u0161\u00ed). Up\u00ednac\u00ed za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed prim\u00e1rn\u011b slou\u017e\u00ed k uchycen\u00ed v\u00e1lcov\u00e9ho tavn\u00e9ho dr\u00e1tu v rozsahu pr\u016fm\u011br\u016f od 0,18 do 0,5 mm. Popisovan\u00e9 za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed oproti sou\u010dasn\u00e9mu stavu zjednodu\u0161uje a urychluje mont\u00e1\u017e inici\u00e1toru (odporov\u00e9ho dr\u00e1tu o mal\u00e9m pr\u016fm\u011bru) a zaji\u0161\u0165uje definovan\u00fd silov\u00fd \u00fa\u010dinek (tedy i p\u0159echodov\u00fd elektrick\u00fd odpor) na uchycovan\u00fd inicia\u010dn\u00ed prvek. Desti\u010dky jsou vz\u00e1jemn\u011b propojeny pomoc\u00ed \u0161roubu s jemn\u00fdm z\u00e1vitem, tak aby vytv\u00e1\u0159ely sv\u011brn\u00fd spoj \u010di uchycen\u00ed. Vzd\u00e1lenost mezi ob\u011bma p\u00e1ry desti\u010dek je voliteln\u00e1 v rozsahu 3 a 20 mm.
